Aadhi Lakshmi is a classic example of how good ideas fail to captivate audience. Thanks to bad presentation, the film which had all the ingredients of a successful venture falls short due to the director not thinking of presenting the film in right and meaningful way.
Thanks to Bollywood inspiration, leading heroes portraying as villains, Srikanth seems to have taken this up and decided to don the role of a villain in this film, maybe he thought it was apt for him to get back to the roots where he started off (if you remember Srikanth started his filmy career as a villain). The story is interesting, the surprises and twists are all there but, the film never catches up with the audience at any point of the time.
Lakshmi Vara Prasad played by Vadde Navin is a renowned criminal lawyer in the city. He meets a film heroine Surekha played by Sridevi (daughter of yesteryear’s actress Manjula) at a film party and falls in love with her. Surekha’s film producer is murdered and her childhood friend Aadhi played by Srikanth is arrested on the murder charge. Surekha approached Lakshmi for getting Aadhi out the case. Lakshmi seeks the help of a psychiatrist played by Poornima, ( Srivariki Prema Lekha fame). She identifies that Aadhi is suffering from split personality. And during such personality disorder he had killed the producer and doesn’t remember it. Lakshmi proves the split personality in court and gets Aadhi out.
At this point the story takes a twist, Aadhi then informs Lakshmi that he had no split personality problem and just to escape from the problem he had acted so. Lakshmi then decides to put aadhi to justice once again and here starts the battle between the two for proving who is guilty and also to get the hand of Surekha… the film looses in the mid-way and is very boring. As everybody would guess it the good man (Lakshmi) wins over the bad guy (Aadhi).
Director RV Suresh earlier made films under the name of Suresh Verma fails to take this interesting story into a good, watch able fare. The treatment of the subject is very ameturish and doesn’t interest anybody. If only little concentration to present the story in better manner would have made wonders for this film.
Chakris who scored the music for the film, his 50th film, is a major drawback for the film. Chakri seems to have lost tunes and has churned out very depressing numbers for the film. Except for editing nothing seems to have stood out in the film.
Srikanth stands out in this film to surprise with acting abilities. In fact there lots of places where he could have overdone, but managed give decent performance. Maybe he is better off doing villainous roles. Sridevi has not much role, and tries to prove to Tolywood that she too could shed out her clothes and look glamours. Vadde Navin is good in his role as a lawyer and has given better performances compared to his other recent films. Maybe he should work little more on his body language.
The comedy is completely out of place and doesn’t mix with the film’s main story line. The comedy relief provided by Ali, Abhinayasri and Uttej is lewd and worth not mentioning.
