'Gift' for Telugu audience!
The formula of mass entertainer has worked for Pawan Kalayan. Annavaram which has released with lots of expectation has stood up to the hope of the fans and mass. The taste of success has once again struck Power Star Pawan Kalayan and is definite 'varam' for himself and his fans. Remake of Tamil film Tirrupachi, Annavaram has all the blends of a commercial movie with right ingredients of sentiments and action.
Unlike his earlier films, Pawan Kalayan has taken pains to act and prove that he is an actor. Leaving behind his histrionics, the hero has played a good, intelligent role which not only enhances his image but also the actor in him. Sticking to the original Tamil script, the director Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao has brought in Telangana nativity and has done a decent job to churn out a commercial entertainer which would appeal to everybody.
The story
Annavaram played by Pawan Kalayan lives with his sister Varam played by Premisthe fame Sandhya in a village. He goes all out for his sister and loves her very much. He wishes to get her married to a city living boy and selects Shiva Balaji. After the marriage, Annavaram with his friend Narasimha played by Venu Madhav go to the city and stay there for few days. During his stay he sees various activities of two villains played by Ashish Vidyarthi and Lal. He starts hating city. But his brother-in-law says that he would take care of his Sandhya.
Annavaram comes to city once again to send his friend Venu Madhav to Dubai. They both stay at Sandhya's place for few days. During that time Narasimha lands in a small fight with Lal and gets killed. This brings a change in Annavaram. He takes his sister and brother-in-law to village and asks them to stay there, while he comes back to city and vouches to wipe out these criminals from Hyderabad. From here the fight starts off. The film starts off in a slow pace mostly sentiments carrying forward the story, the second half is all for the mass and is about his revenge, killing of all the anti-social elements in the city.
Annavaram takes the help of his friend, played by Brahmaji, a police inspector to get clues about the rowdies and starts killing them. Interestingly, though you have the hero image projected and the star status hitting at you, the hero is shown not just as the angry young man, but also an intelligent human being who cleverly plans the killing of the villains. The killings of the villains is must watch for all the Pawan Kalyan fans since it is picturised interestingly.
The performances
The film is completely Pawan Kalyan show all the way. He proves to the industry that it is not just the foolish jumping acts that he can do but also take the entire film, that too a mass, commercial, action film just by himself. Definitely a good break for his fans and also for himself who can look forward to act in better films!
Sandhya takes away the limelight from the glamour doll Asin and has done her role with ease and sincerity. The heroine Asin is just for glamour and has no role except two songs. The special attraction with Asin is that she utters dialogues in Telangana accent. Two surprises were the roles of friends played by Venu Madhav and Brahmaji. While the first half Venu Madhav takes the important role, Brahmaji takes care in the second half. Nagu Babu who has acted has the ACP in the film has a good role and he has justified it.
Analysis
Ramana Gogula's music gels with the film and songs are catchy. Even the single stanza songs are good, with light music to hum. The highlight is the background score for the entire film, it has helped to carry to mood of sentiment, anger and love all through. Vijayan master fights are composed well and few of them are novel to Telugu audience.
Remaking a Tamil film, the director has taken all efforts to bring in Telugu nativity, especially Telangana nativity. He uses the Pothuraju element well all through the film right from the first sequence itself. Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao has to be congratulated for making this mass entertainer with a star like Pawan Kalyan, who has not done such an action oriented film till date. All well that ends well... must be in the minds of Pawan and Bhimaneni! | |
