'Spent force' EVV's disaster show
Watching the latest movie of E.V.V.Satyanarayana, 'Attilli Sattibabu L K G', was a clear
example of how a 'spent force' tries to prove his existence in the industry.
E.V.V.Satyanarayana, who had given us the films like 'Appula Appa Rao', 'Alluda Majaka',
'Hello Brother', etc has definitely lost touch and it is better he gives up directing films. The
latest flick can in no way be compared to his earlier films, but when it is compared to
his last few releases like 'Evadigola Vadidi' and 'Kithakithalu', this is a much substandard
film.
The director, who has specialized in making comedy films, has not bothered to have the
basic element called the story. Without a plot, trying to tickle the senses of people is a very
difficult task and when the dialogues are not good enough, the task becomes much more
difficult. This is what has happened with 'Attilli Sattibabu L K G'. Added to these woes is the
vulgarity at many stages; between the hero and Brahmanandam; between Abhinayasri
and Krishna Bagvan. Nothing could save this film to become utter disaster and the result is
clear right from the morning show of its release date.
The Story
The film is set in the backdrop of a coastal Andhra Village called Attilli. Here we have
Attilli Sattibabu (Naresh) who lives with his two brothers Raghu Babu and Sunil. They both
are married and are living with their wives and children in a house that has been inherited
from their father. Raghu Babu and Sunil are both useless and do not work, in fact Raghu
Babu is an alcoholic, while Sunil spends time by playing cards.
On the other hand Naresh is a full time miser and is ready to do anything for money. He
makes money by doing two to three different businesses, which includes lending money
and running a tent house. Everyone in the village hate him for is inhumanly behaviour to
get back his money. Meanwhile L.B.Sriram's daughter falls in love with Naresh. Naresh
never likes her, and when she expresses her love, he humiliates her and her
father.
At the same time another heroine comes to the village by setting up a beauty parlour.
Naresh falls in love with her and starts going out of the way to do anything for her. Finally
he tells her about his love, and she says him to seek the permission of her father,
Dharmavarapu Subramanyam. When our hero goes to heroines father, he asks Naresh
to give Kanyasulkam to marry his daughter; from here everyone in the village start
changing his or her attitude towards him and finally he becomes helpless. Does he
change his behaviour? Does he help his brothers? Whom does he finally marry? All these
would be answered in the final 10 minutes.
The Analysis
The story lacks any novelty. In fact it does not exist at all. Over this kind of story you have the spread of comedy artists from Babu Mohan to Sunil to Venu Madhav come and
enact some funny, idiotic and foolish scenes and go. There is nothing else to offer for the audience. But the meaty roles have gone to veteran Brahmanandam and Krishna Bhagavan. They both take the show away from anybody else. But the comedy at many places is of bad taste and vulgar. Abhinayasri's dressing is not relatable to anything in this world.
There are definitely few places where the entire theatre goes berserk over the comedy, but it is not happening at many occasions, which leaves bad taste. The performance of the hero is mediocre and noting really good. The two new faces as the heroines are neither good looking nor have the capability of performing. The comedy starts have tries their best to do some foolish acts, which might have raised little laughter in the theatre, otherwise, a bad film that is worth not giving a look! | |
