Nothing to ponder about this Muduru!
Poori Jagannath is known to churn out surprises. And this yet another shocking surprise! The surprise is that one would walk out of the theatre after watching Desa Muduru wondering whether it is the same director who had delivered Pokiri! The film is a complete failure for Poori, and also for Allu Arjun. Except for the comedy and the heroine there is nothing to talk about this movie.
No emotions, no sentiments, and also no entertainment are the overall impression that we get out of Desa Muduru. The first half of the film runs at a neat pace with lots of comic scenes and most dominated by Ali's comic stories, but the second half is just flat where the hero gets is lover out of the villain's clutches.
The story
Bala Govind, played by Allu Arjun, is a tough guy, who is ready to do anything for the good. He works in Maa TV. On his regular coverage, he lands into trouble with Murugesh, played by Subba Raju, who is the son of Dhoolpet don Ponnusamy, played by Pradeep Rawat. As usual our hero bashes up Murugesh and Ponnusamy is on the look out for the guy who he has beaten up his son. To avoid all the troubles, Bala goes to Kulu Manali in guise of doing a travel show for his channel.
The shots of Kulu Manali are well captured by Shyam K Naidu (by the way he has changed his name to Sam K Naidu). In Manali, Bala falls in love with Vaishali, played by Hansika. She lives as a sanyasini in Ramaprabha's ashram. Only Porri should be able to explain why this sanyasini element has been rubbed on to the heroine. Bala woos her and she foregoes sanyasini and falls in love with him.
Actually she too is escaping from Ponnusamy gang. Ponnusamy wants to make her the wife of his son. From here the film shifts to Hyderabad's Dhoolpet, where the hero comes and takes away his love from the hands of the villains.
The Analysis
One wonders why has Poori brought in the Tamil element into the villain. The dialogues written by Poori are funny and interesting. But the dominance in the film is of Ali and Kovai Sarala. Their performance is good and their sequences have been well conceived. It seems Poori has applied his mind only for Ali's sequences! Allu Arjun's performance is so-so. Hansika the new comer is beautiful and has potential to get on to the top but only if she improves her acting skills. Music of Chakri is not impressive except for one song "Ninne... Ninne..". | |
