An Exclusive Interview With Trisha

Trisha has done six films in Tamil and two in Telugu so far and the industry is watching this talented girl. The credit of course goes to filmmaker M S Raju for giving breaks to two artistes, Trisha and Prabhas in his film 'Varsham'..

How do you feel about your first Telugu success?
I have no words. I must be honest and admit that the failure of Nee Manasu Naku Telusu was disappointing but when M S Raju wanted to cast me in his new film I was relieved that I wasn’t such a disaster after all! My confidence levels have increased now that Varsham has been declared a hit. The applause and appreciation are like sweet music to my ears!

What are factors that contributed to the film’s success?
The pace of the film and the treatment of the subject. If both these are in tandem, the film will be a good one.

Do you identify with your character in Varsham?
Absolutely. I may not look like my character in real life but the character is very close to me. She is a simple girl-next-door. The feelings and emotions she portrays can be well identified by the common man.

  From day one filmmaker M S Raju has reiterated that his film would bring you and Prabhas into mainstream cinema. How far has this been true?
He was dead right. I got much more positive response than I dreamt of, and much more than what he himself expected! Prabhas is doing a couple of movies. He has started shooting for a movie directed by B Gopal and some more are in the offing. I am doing a Tamil movie now and a new one with M S Raju. I am also looking at Telugu scripts.

  What else do you expect from Varsham?
I hope it will run for 365 days and become a superhit.

  What are your new projects?
I am doing a Tamil movie, which is remake of the Telugu blockbuster Okkadu. It is titled Gilli. I have one more movie with M S Raju. Prabhu Deva is going to make his directorial debut in Tollywood. I have another movie opposite Mahesh Babu.

  What is this movie all about?
To be frank I don’t know much about the movie.

  How did you sign on before going into the details?
I don’t have to go into detail when the project belongs to M S Raju. He is a successful filmmaker and I have left everything to him. I am confident about his abilities and am sure this film too will bring me success.

  What do you like best about Tollywood?
The artistes and technicians in Tollywood are professional and sincere. I love to work with them. They have a lot of patience too. I would love to do more Telugu movies.
