Wasted Brilliance, lacks everything!
Sukumar who hit the big league of Telugu commercial film industry with his debut film 'Arya' has come out with the new flick called 'Jagadam'. 'Jagadam' is nothing but the fight within Sukumar to churn out a film that is much superior than 'Arya', but he falls flat and is sheer technical wizardry and nothing else.
'Jagadam' should be teaching a lesson to our people. any film, made by any director will fall flat if it doesn't have the basic ingredient called the
story. Though the concept is good, but to show the bad the director idolizes bad and only in the last 20 minutes of the film you realize all that he has shown is bad and so is our hero who turns into a good man and kills the bad elements that have influenced him.. Blah, blah, blah.
The Story
The story is about the youth's attraction towards anything and everything in this world and how they try treat that as their models for the future. In
the film, our hero Srinu (Ram) develops attraction for violence, revenge and goondas since his childhood. Srinu is the guy who tends towards fighting spirit and violence. He grows up and joins the gang of a rowdy Manikyam (Pradeep Rawat). Manikyam's right hand (AS Ravi Kumar Chowdary) fears about the dominating nature of Srinu. As expected by Manikyam's Right Hand, Srinu slowly develops and improves his hold on dark business. The film 'M Dharma Raju MA' flashes on mind screen here.
Subbu (Isha), is the girl who falls in Srinu's love. It is not clear why Subbu gets attracted to him. One has to understand that she has to love the
hero as she is heroine. A dispute arises between Srinu and Manikyam and that results in a fight between the two. Finally, what happens has to be seen on screen! The consequences those are to be faced for stepping into the viscous circle of violence and crime are shown till the climax of the film. The young lad, who is the younger brother of Srinu, gets killed before the climax making the eyes of Srinu open.
The Analysis
There is nothing much to carry back after watching the film except for some brilliant shots of Ratnavelu, and some extraordinary cuts of Sreekar Prasad. The short hero Ram has done a good job, but there is not much to remember of his role but for few strong action sequences. His dialogue delivery has to improve and voice modulation has to happen if he plans to have a career in films. The new girl Isha is a total misfit for the role. She seems to be just a one film wonder (though there is nothing to wonder about this lady!).
Pradeep Rawat is different in the role of the villain with a new get-up. A.S.Ravi Kumar Chowdary (director of 'Yagnam' and 'Veerabhadra') did the role of villain's sidekick. He is very good. Venu, who made debut as actor with 'Jai' film excels as sidekick of hero with terrific performance. The lean guy in hero's gang is also very good. Raghubabu did the role of a meek father. This character is a different one for Raghubabu. Devi Charan did a vital role. Prakash Raj did the guest role of a police commissioner. Monalisa, Madhu Shalini and Zobyn Khan (sister of Mumaith Khan) did a couple of item songs in this film.
Sukumar showed some brilliance in few songs. Songs picturization of the film is good. 'Violence', '5 feet' and 'Everybody' are excellently choreographed. But this film after 'Arya' is not very impressive and is sure it will not make any impact in the box office! | |
