'Nenu' is really an off-beat story. Director Sattibabu did an excellent job in extracting best performances from all the artistes for his film 'Nenu'. A remake of a Tamil blockbuster 'Khadal Kondein'. It has high values both performance-wise and also from technical side. screenplay by Sattibabu is excellent.

StoryVinod (Naresh) grows in an orphanage run by a Christian missionary. He completes his Intermediate in a school run by the missionary under the guardianship of Father Joseph (Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao). He gets a seat in an engineering course at the behest of the Father, who insists that he should go to Vizag and continue his studies. In the college, he attracts Divya (Veda) with his educational brilliance and innocence. However, others hate him due to his shabby looks. Adhi (Abhishek) falls in love with Divya, but is unsuccessful. Vinod's innocent looks brings him close to Divya, who treats him only as a friend, but the former is in love with her. When a co-student Sreenu (Rajiv Kanakala) talks bad about her, he beats him and finally kills him. On one fine day, Adhi succeeds in winning the love of Divya, which hurts Vinod a lot. Even her father DSP Prabhakar (Chalapati Rao) did not accept Divya's love. He gives a stern warning to Adhi's father (Jenny) to keep his son under control. Adhi requests Vinod to help him in winning his love. This gives Vinod a chance and he takes Divya away with him on the pretext of uniting her with Adhi.

He takes her to the hostel and fails to convince the Father. In a bid to convince him, he strangulates the Father to death. Unable to stay there, Vinod takes Divya to a dilapidated guesthouse and looks after her well-being with more love. There, Divya learns about Vinod's childhood and how he was deprived of love and affection. However, police catch Adhi and interrogates him and finds that it is Vinod who took her out of her house. The police find that Vinod had killed Sreenu and a club dancer. They also go to his hostel only to find that Father Joseph is dead out of heart attack. When the police are in search of him, Vinod tries to kill Adhi when he finds him. The police somehow catch Divya and tell her that Vinod is a psycho. But she really knows that he is not a psycho but is longing for affection and love. Again, to win back the love and affection from Divya, Vinod attacks the guesthouse where the police and Adhi kept Divya. In the climax, all the three - Adhi, Vinod and Divya chase each other and were almost about to fall in a valley. Divya could withstand while, Adhi and Vinod hold her hands. When Adhi pleads with Divya to leave Vinod and save him, Divya had a soft corner towards Vinod and did not leave his hand. Realising that there is somebody who could shed tears for him, Vinod feels happy and leaves her hand for a gory death. Finally Divya and Adhi unite.
Music Music by Vidyasagar is average. Photography by Ramprasad in song sequences is good.
Performance Naresh gave an excellent performance. All his histrionics were well patterned. Veda, a noted classical dancer, made her debut appearance in Telugu and did an impressive job. Though Abhishek had a good character, he failed to show any skills. Chalapati Rao, Benarjee, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao played their roles up to the mark.
