Mass thriller from class director!
'Okkadunnadu' should make Chandrasekhar Yeleti a mass commercial director! He has come out with the offbeat stigma with this film to churn out and out-right mass movie with all the required elements of gory fights and revenge formulae. This film is definitely stand away from his earlier two films. Ithe and Anukokunda Oka Roju had strong story elements and was well presented, but this has a thin storyline and moreover the presentation is very ordinary.
Basic idea of the film is interesting. There are certain sequences that have been conceived well, but nothing registers in the mind because of the gory action sequences. Moreover Gopichand looks very rigid and tired on the screen, his dressing in the film is not according to the character, this adds to the confusion into the minds of people anyway if it clicks in the box-office it might be the style of the day who knows?
The story
Gopichand is son of famous banker Suman and owner of Venkateshwara Bank. The bank enters into rough waters due to the directors cheating Suman. To overcome the problem, they sell all the property, but they are not bailed out. Now they need to get another Rs 4 crore amount to pay as bribe to a person who will influence RBI to get funding. Kiran comes to Mumbai to sell their guest house for which he goes to Neha Julka, who is doing real estate business in Mumbai and is behind Goutami to make her get the money after the sale of his guesthouse.
The film is completely set in the Mumbai backdrop. Mumbai mafia don Mahesh Manjerekar has a major heart disease and lives on machine support. He is on a desperate look out for a person with Bombay blood group so that he can have his heart transplant done. Gopichand is with Bombay blood group and Mahesh Manjerekar's men and his right hand Nazar are after Gopichand for taking his heart to transplant it into Manjerekar's body. From here it is the story of how Kiran fights is life out of these villains?
The Analysis
Gopichand performance is mediocre and nothing to rave about, the new actress Neha Julka is very. Nazar steels the show and has done a great job to lift the film out of doldrums. Mahesh Manjerekar is done a neat job and his acting is very apt for the role. For comedy Brahmanandam has been brought in but doesn't have scope nor the two scenes in which he is seen have anything that tickles you. Maybe the film has been
conceived as an out and out action flick hence they thought there is no need for comedy!
This run-of-the-mill film with lots of blood bath and gory action scenes. The film proved one point Chandrasekhar is desperate to be paired with mass movie makers of Telugu film industry and shed out the image of an offbeat commercial director to a great extent he has achieved this. But will it prove a successful point for him? Let's keep our fingers crossed.
